Composites Conversation Continues at SAMPE

, Executive Director - Global Aerospace

Last week I attended the International SAMPE Conference and Exhibition in Baltimore, MD.  It was another excellent conference highlighting the continued growth of advanced materials and composites.

One of the conversation topics that came up repeatedly in my interactions with attendees is that the industry is doing a great job in coming up with new materials but we are much slower in testing and certifying these new materials.  Many of these materials offer tremendous advantages but if they are not fully characterized they cannot be used in many applications.  Read More

The Benefits of PLM

, Executive Director - Global Aerospace

A good article appeared recently in Aerospace Manufacturing and Design on the benefits of PLM.  I provided the Altair perspective but you can see comments from several others in the industry in this article.  Altair continues to gain traction with our user-centric simulation data management offering.  Users are finding it easy to use and something that benefits their daily work by allowing them to easily organize their simulation data.  Management likes it because it is scalable to a larger enterprise solution that fits within their existing PLM infrastructure.  If you want to learn more, check out our Enterprise Solutions page.

This post was taken from Altair Enlighten.

Earlier last year, I was invited to present at an Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) event – Lightweighting for Low-Carbon Vehicles. It provided an opportunity to reflect on a number of industry developments and articulate how increasingly intelligent simulation technology (e.g. structural optimization) is facilitating the development of a new generation of lightweight vehicles. If you have time, take a look at the recording of my presentation below and let me know what you think.
